What Are X-Rays?

X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, similar to visible light but with much higher energy. This allows them to penetrate various materials, including body tissues, making them particularly useful in medical imaging. An X-ray machine generates X-rays, which pass through the body and create an image on a special film or digital detector.

How Do X-Rays Work?

  5. Contrast Studies: X-rays can be enhanced with contrast agents to visualize specific areas, such as the gastrointestinal tract, highlighting abnormalities.
